Deepak Obhrai, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs replied on 11 March:

Brian Davis responded to Deepak Obhroi with the following letter which the Citizen DID NOT PUBLISH:

Please answer the questions, Mr. Obhrai

I was pleased that Parliamentary Secretary Obhrai replied the next day to my letter of March 11th. It meant my comments touched a sensitive nerve. Sadly, Obhrai chose to answer by attacking me rather than addressing the issues I raised.

Re: Take It Off, Barbara Kay, Dec. 21.
Barbara Kay is perfectly right in asserting that women should not have their faces covered with niqabs while in court, on the witness stand. When people from other countries come to live in Canada, they should all, without exception, submit to the laws and regulations of the country. Allowing some of them to keep their religious or traditional ways of life, especially in matters of fundamental importance as giving testimony in court, is wrong.
Equality and democracy mean that everyone lives in freedom — that is the greatest privilege of being a Canadian.
